Kingsley is a tall, somewhat lanky guy with a fair skin tone. He has maroon-red hair and grey eyes. He wears square glasses, with a thin grey frame. He is seen wearing a button-down shirt with the top buttons undone, under he wears a black t-shirt. He also wears black trousers with a black belt. His choice of shoes are a simple pair of sneakers.

Personality

Kingsley Kwan is a quiet and serious individual that, aside from Donald, only speaks with the Union members about Union related business. He is able to multitask being student council president while also helping Donald manage the Union.

He isn't a super genius like Gray and Donald because he couldn't create an equation for the math contest as shown in Episode 64. He is smart enough to keep up with Donald and the Union businesses though. In middle school, he was constantly second place prior to Donald's enrollment.

Kingsley doesn't hesitate to mock those he considers beneath him, as shown in Episode 24 when he smugly calls Yoosun dysfunctional. He is easily intimidated when Jake threatens him during their initial meeting.

Kingsley is shown to be willing to act on his own without Donald's permission. He tells the Mok-Ha Duo about Myles' weakness when Donald assigns them to retrieve the money and files. Kingsley doesn't want to risk Donald's safety because the Union is nothing without him. He even goes as far as to hire two thugs to kidnap Ben to prevent him from arriving to the final battle, angering Donald who slaps him and reminds him that his victory is already certain. Kingsley accepts his punishment/slap from Donny without any resistance or regrets.

History

Kingsley's parents always had high expectations of him. He initially wanted to live up to everyone's expectations, but in reality he only had mediocre talent and a mediocre background. Everything he had was below what was expected, which became a wall that he couldn't overcome. All he could do was adapt to reality. No matter how hard he tried, he was always second place in school instead of first place.

Kingsley attended Yeo-Il Elementary School. During his fourth year, he was among the student representatives who took a field trip to the partner elementary school, Yeowon Elementary. While on the bus, he witnessed a young Donald Na leave Yeowon after beating up his bullies. Kingsley later wrote negative papers about the school exchange program.

After graduating form Yeo-Il Elementary, Kingsley attended Yeo-Il Middle School and met Donald in the second half of their first year. At the time, Kingsley was the first years' representative. In the hallway, he saw Donald in the library rather than in class with the other students. When inquiring about this to the head of academic affairs, he is told that Donald enrolled in the second semester due to personal reasons and that his attendance is lenient due to him being a special case. Kingsley was told that Donald scored first in the mock exam and that he'll be placed in Kingsley's class, Class 1-7.

After Donald was placed in Kingsley's class, the head of the third year students, Seungun Min, stormed into the classroom and targeted Donald, and ordered him to bring him a million won by tomorrow. Kingsley, as well as the entire class, witnessed as Donald easily defeated Seungun and his friend, and Donald ordered them to bring him two million won by tomorrow. Later, Kingsley went to the library and looked through Donald’s folder questions. He was shocked because they were way past the middle and high school level. Donald asked why he was looking at his notes, and Kingsley informed him that he was called to the office about the incident with Seungun. Kingsley told him that Seungun’s parents have quite the influence at school and that Donald won’t be able to get through this easily. Donald was unbothered, which annoyed Kingsley. Kingsley told him that he had been collecting evidence on Seungun to get him expelled or at least transferred, but because of Donald, everything changed. Donald claimed that he took care of the problem in just five minutes, but Kingsley told him that delinquents who use their fists don't understand, and that Seungun will dial back until Donald gets expelled due to Seungun's parents.

Donald revealed that he knew who Kingsley was and said that he found all the articles Kingsley had written to be amusing. Kingsley realized that scholarship student he had seen while visiting Yeowon Elementary School had been Donald. Donald asked Kingsley that if he were to cleanly erase Seungun Min, would he hold hands with him. Donald said he'll prove to him that while Kingsley wanted to believe he can live in the world with logic, the world wasn't a nice place like that. Kingsley was shocked when Donald got away with volunteer hours. Donald told Kingsley that the real world existed outside the school gates and the real numbers were there. He told Kingsley that the human world is naturally an unfair place and to not get caught up in it, but to use it. Donald offered Kingsley to join him because he needed him.

Kingsley could never reject Donald. He despised the situation he was in, and he saw Donald as someone so overwhelmingly strong and of a different world, a person whose existence itself was overwhelming. Kingsley was happy and excited because Donald was the perfect being he had been looking for. Donald and Kingsley started creating the Union. Whenever Donald fought and got injured, Kingsley expressed his worry, but Donald told him that he needed to show his strength in order to achieve victory. Donald defeated all of his enemies and the image of him going ahead without any fear or worry was close to perfection.

In their second year of middle school, Kingsley saw Donald's tattoos, but Donald told him that it's nothing to be worried about and that it was only a means for an end. Donald continued to rise up faster. On the day of the Union's inauguration, Donald had Kingsley get rid of guys they don't need and to only take the guys that were still useful so the Union seemed like an opportunity that didn't come by often. When Jimmy went to Donald to request help to rescue Jack from Manwol, Kingsley was with Donald at the cafe.

In their third year, Kingsley suggested Donald join the Olympiad because it was important to keep the student image they had right now and they needed official achievement outside of school. During winter, Kingsley approached Jake and told him that Donald wanted to speak to him, but Jake refused and told him that Donald should come to him directly if he wanted to talk. Donald arrived before an argument could break out and offered Jake an invitation to join the Union, but Jake declined and threatened them. After Kenny is hospitalized, Jake went to Yeouinaru to join the Union in exchange for revenge against Manwol. Donald wasn't at his office at the time, so Kingsley called Donald. The phone call was unintentionally stop Donald from further injuring Ben and Alex.

Kingsley remained by Donald's side as the Union officially beat Manwol. They move onto Yeo-Il High School. Kingsley mentioned that the only problem is Eunjang because Phillip Kim can't handle it. Kingsley also informed Donald that Jake had been assigned to Daehyeon High School, and commented that Jake was adapting quicker than expected. Kingsley mentioned that Chungil Lee wanted to meet Donald. Donald said that it shouldn't be the Union begging for jobs, but rather it should be the people coming to look for the Union themselves. Kingsley stands by Donald's side during a Union assembly where the last faction of the Union, Ganghak, is introduced.

Plot

He is first seen when Harper Ha runs into him when going to talk to Donald Na. When Harper, in fear nervously says his name, Kingsley asks what he wants. When Helmet explains his reason for being there was wanting to talk to Donald Na, Kingsley directs him to where Donald is. Not before leaving, Kingsley teasingly asks Helmet what he has to report without Jimmy Bae and calls Yoosun dysfunctional.[1]

He later reappears and can be seen standing next to Donald Na in certain chapters.[2][3]

Kingsley calls Jake Ji to tell him he's at Daehyeon's front gate and asks him where he is. When Kingsley is face to face with Jake, he tells him that should take part in the upcoming assembly. After Jake says he will attend and rabbles off about the other Union members, Kingsley interrupts him and says he'll be taking his word. He also informs Jake that Donald was looking forward to seeing him and trails off to mention what he did at the last assembly. Jake stops him before he finishes with an unnerving face and states he'll be attending the meeting, giving Kingsley chills. Kingsley fixes his glasses and tells Jake he'll inform Donald about his attendance, and then begins to leave. Before he can walk away, Jake stops him by putting a hand on his shoulder asks him his thoughts on Ace's death.[4]

At the Union executives meeting Kingsley is seen silently standing next to Donald Na. Donald informs the Union leaders that Kingsley would be handing out new company lists.[5][6]

Kingsley enters Donald's office to tell him something about the new company but he notices Donald dozing off. He notices math equations Donald was working on. When he sees the equation he believes he can't solve it and the answer rate is lower than five percent. He determines the equation is impossible for a normal person to solve and deems he doesn't get Donald.[7]

Kingsley stops Donald from continuing to beat Wolf Keum by putting an arm out in front of Wolf before Donald punches him again. He tells Donald that his beating his enough and tells him he thinks he should calm down. Donald agrees with him and pulls back then proceeds to scold Wolf while Kingsley stands next to him looking down at Wolf. Kingsley and Donald leave the room and slam the door on Wolf leaving him to himself.[8]

Relationships

Donald Na

Kingsley is Donald's right-hand man, and Donald uses Kingsley to carry out specific tasks, such as when Kingsley introduced themselves to Jake and Dean in their flashback. Unlike the other antagonists, Donald doesn't think of Kingsley as a pawn like Wolf or Jimmy, but their relationship seems to be more genuine comparatively speaking. It is not specified how they got together but it's obvious that both Kingsley and Donald have respect for the other.

Kingsley is shown to act on his own if he deems it necessary, such the case when he hired thugs to kidnap Ben before the final fight, even though he knows it isn't what Donald wants. Donald was furious to the point where he slapped Kingsley, the action shocking all the witnesses due to Kingsley being the only person that Donald trusts completely.

Jake Ji

Kingsley introduced himself to Jake before Jake had joined the Union. Jake quickly dismissed Kingsley at first, because Kingsley was wearing the Yeo-Il uniform and wasn't even in Daehyeon, but for business relations with Donald Na, Jake has encountered Kingsley more frequently. Jake doesn't really harbor any resentment for Kingsley and even talked about a character's death with Kingsley. They are simply acquaintances.

At Donald's funeral, Jake comforted Kingsley when the latter fell to his knees and broke down in tears. After Jake left Yeongdeungpo, he told Dean that he'd help Kingsley if Kingsley ever called him.
