Janghyeok Woo (우장혁, Woo Janghyeok; "Janghyeok Woo") is the founder and former leader of Cheongang.
Appearance
Janghyeok is a tall man with a broad build. He has dark grey hair that reaches the base of his neck. His eyes have yet to be shown.
His is shown to always be wearing a suit consisting of a black jacket, a white collared shirt, and a red tie.
Personality
Not much is known about Janghyeok's personality. Due to being the founder of Cheongang and being highly respected by both Changhui and Juwon, it can be assumed that he had great managerial skills and fighting skills.
Juwon often went to Janghyeok for advice during times of crises, even after Janghyeok retired. Janghyeok believes that a path left unwalked could haunt a person forever. Even if no one support's one's decision, if they have unfinished business, they should take care of it first so there would be no regrets.
History
An unknown amount of years ago, Janghyeok Woo created Cheongang.
Three years before the start of the series, it was already mentioned that Changhui would be the next leader of Cheongang, meaning Janghyeok had already decided to retire by then and most likely left Cheongang not long after. The reason for Janghyeok leaving is unknown.
Plot
Episode 167
A flashback from three years ago shows Cheongang fighting against a rival gang. Changhui mentions that there are twice as many men in the main building and tells Juwon to go help their boss because the boss needs him. Changhui tells Juwon that he and the boss must protect Changhui's Cheongang.
Episode 177
When Changhui is struggling against Donald, he remembers Janghyeok telling him that he was leaving because the time came for him to leave, and that Cheongang was in Changhui's hands now. Changhui was saddened by Janghyeok's departure.
Episode 178
Juwon thinks back to when he first beat Changhui, and then their subsequent fight afterwards where they fought again and Juwon had been completely overpowered. Changhui asks Juwon if he knows what makes him different from Janghyeok. Changhui says that he's not afraid to take one step back to take two steps forward because what matters to him is who is standing in the end.
Episode 211
Juwon calls Janghyeok to ask him for advice about dealing with his recent defeat at the hands of Jake Ji and wanting to save face. Janghyeok tells him "A path left unwalked can haunt you forever. Even if no one else supports your decision. If you have unfinished business...go take care of it first. No regrets. I don't disagree much with Changhui there."
It is shown that Janghyeok is in an office on an upper floor of a building. It is unknown what his current occupation is.
Episode 214
Changhui notes that Juwon didn't return to Mapo because whenever there was trouble, Juwon always relied on Janghyeok instead of Changhui. He knows that Juwon most likely went to Janghyeok because his lost against Jake and Ben were difficult for him to accept. Janghyeok is not in Seoul, but his current location is never revealed.
Relationships
Changhui Han
Changhui deeply respects Janghyeok and was a loyal follower of his. He was saddened when Janghyeok left Cheongang. Changhui still follows Cheongang's traditions that Janghyeok had created.
Juwon Lee
Juwon admires and deeply respects Janghyeok, even more than he does to Changhui. Whenever he needed advice, Juwon always went to Janghyeok. Even after Janghyeok left Cheongang, Juwon still held him in high regard and asked him for advice.
Trivia
- Despite being introduced by his Korean name in Episode 163, English translators started calling him "Ronald" in later chapters.
- It is unknown why he retired from Cheongang or what he is currently doing.
