Chapter 215 is the two hundred fifteenth chapter of Weak Hero. It is the 88th chapter of the third season.
Synopsis[]
It is now autumn and students are now wearing their winter uniform due to the weather getting colder. Alex and Class Eight Guy are walking together and Class Eight Guy mentions Ben being on a completely different level and says he might be able to go against Donald. Alex snaps at him and asks why Ben would fight Donald. Despite Alex’s worries, everyone in Yeongdeungpo is talking about Eunjang and Cheongang’s run-in.
At Daehyeon, Timothy mentions the run-in to Dean. Dean wonders why Donald isn’t doing anything and knows Jake cleans up after his messes. Timmy says Donald probably doesn’t have any interest in Eunjang and that whatever happens, the Union system is still solid. Timmy is more worried about what the hell Jake is thinking.
Eugene shows Gray that the contract bid selection result for the streetlight construction in the redevelopment zone is Daegwang Industries. He remembers Ilhwan Hi-Tech giving him a bunch of parts because they’re going out of business since none of their proposals ever get selected, nor do they win any bids. Eugene doesn’t want to keep on bugging Gray so he decides to figure it out on his own.
At home, Eugene researches places with cheap but high quality materials, such as Songmin Steel and Ilhwan Hi-Tech, while Daegwang charges more even though their steel plates are too thin and don’t meet quality standards. Eugene decides to attach a carefully built price chart of all the local businesses and suggest how to use the money more efficiently.
Eugene’s proposal is passed right away and the revised documents are sent. Gray is stunned because it is a straightforward approach that gets to the heart of the matter. He knows it won’t be easy for the policy to actually be applied because there are too many interests involved.
Gray recalls finding out some things while helping Eugene. The companies with connections won the bids. It is clear who is abusing the system and who is profiting from it, and it’s clear that one of the pillars is the Union. The victims are the hardworking local business owners whose livelihoods depend on their work.
Gray wonders if this is how Stephen also felt when faced with nauseating unreasonable realities. He remembers Stephen didn’t fall back on resentment, but tried to change it any way he could. Gray wonders if he’ll be able to do the same.
A few days later, Eugene happily grabs the newspaper and finds out that he is the grand prize winner and his interview is one of the articles.
Mr. Song is showing the article to Chungil Lee and is worried because it isn’t Daegwang who won the bid. Chungil says the director isn’t an idiot and that it’s all just for show. He says he has another connection that he’ll tell to pay special attention. He says that it’s just to sway the public opinion and that Eugene’s policy isn’t actually going to be applied.
Donald receives a call from Chungil and Donald says that it’s over for the guys up top the moment they sign off on it, so he wouldn’t worry about it. Donald sees that Gray has once again solved the problem he had submitted.
Donald is perplexed. He had thrown every trick he knew into this problem, but Gray had solved it in the most straightforward and obvious way possible. He doesn’t know if he feels joy or anger, but whatever he is feeling, Donald decides to do what he always did: head straight for his goal. He has no idea that his castle had started to fracture.
