Chapter 143

Chapter 143 is the one hundred forty third chapter of Weak Hero. It is the 16th chapter of the third season.

It is the eighth part of Gerard Jin's Backstory.

Synopsis[]

Gerard wakes up in Malkeun Hospital. He receives a text from Jinu saying that he stopped by and tell Gerard to get some rest. Jinu says he can’t reach Hyeonjin and Sangman, and that although it’s a shame that the practice room burned down and all the music sheets and files are gone, he’s glad that Gerard’s okay.

Gerard wonders why he tried so desperately and throws the box of juice Jinu had left him to the floor. He tears his IV out and pulls at his bandages. He doesn’t want to try anymore and quits singing. Gerard’s flashback ends.

At Hero Cram School, the teachers are instructed to focus on getting the most out of the students who did well on the last monthly exam. The goal is to send their students to prestigious universities, but they keep losing elite students to other cram schools. A special exam for the top-scoring students is going to be held this weekend.

Gray notices the person who submitted the S-level difficulty problem is from Yeo-Il. A teacher gives him a flyer for the upcoming special exam, and informs him the exam is only for students who scored high on the last monthly exam.

Eugene receives news that he passed the first round of the competition. He tells Rowan that the incident at the pitch-black alley in Sindorim is what gave him the idea for his project. Due to the lack of streetlights in that area, bullies hung around there to beat up other kids. Eugene and Rowan were beaten up there, and Eugene pretended to have life-threatening asthma so he and Rowan could escape. All of the bullies disappeared from the alley as soon as street lights were installed.

Eugene tells Gray that he passed the first round and he received the funds to build a prototype for the second round. Gray offers to help him in the second round too. Gray asks who the Union leader is. Eugene says he’s a total beast who not even Ben could defeat; he tells Gray that his name is Donald Na and he goes to Yeo-Il. Gray realizes that it was Donald who submitted the S-level question.

The cram school teacher notices that the student who submitted the S-level question and the student submitted the solution are the same students who won the grand prize in last year’s Olympiad.
