Chapter 140

Chapter 140 is the one hundred fortieth chapter of Weak Hero. It is the 13th chapter of the third season.

It is the fifth part of Gerard Jin's Backstory.

Synopsis[]

Slam is now going to be performing on weekends at Green Field’s Songdo branch. The travel is brutal because they have to take a subway, transfer twice, take a bus, and then walk; traveling takes two and a half hours and they’ll have to do it every weekend. Jinu says that Sinma said they’ll message him sometime this week about helping with transportation, but it’s hard to reach them. They see another band arriving in a van, and Sangman, Jinu, and Gerard are jealous. Hyeonjin tells them that he’s more pissed about the situation than jealous.

Slam performs at Hongdae on weekdays and Songdo on weekends. Something about that keeps bothering Gerard, but people are responding well to the band. Hyeonjin asks what’s the point of people liking them when there’s no difference in what they make compared to when they used to busk. He says that he tried to call Sinma but couldn’t reach anyone, meaning that no one cares about their weekend gig. Gerard can’t argue with him because all of it is a result of his own stubbornness.

One member of the band that played after Slam congratulates them. The other member is drunk and angrily yells at them, preparing to attack Sangman and Jinu. Gerard throws the guy into some bushes and Jinu has to hold him back from beating him up.

The sober member restrains his friend. The drunk guy yells that because of Slam, they don’t accept any extra pay from ticket sales, don’t take any transportation fee to come all the way down to Songdo, and keep driving down the price, resulting in his band losing their gig. The sober guy realizes that Slam is completely unaware of all of those things.

Green Field informs Jinu and Gerard that after assigning Slam to play at the Songdo branch on weekends, they paid for transportations upon Slam’s request. Jinu is confused because they’ve received nothing. Green Field tells them that they gave a more generous bonus for ticket sales than other bands, and that there must be a misunderstanding with Sinma.

Gerard and Jinu leave, and Gerard asks if he’s heard anything about the transportation fees and extra pay from Sinma. Jinu says that he hasn’t been able to reach Sinma for a while, but he’ll ask next week during the meeting regarding the band audition.

The time for the meeting with Sinma, but Jinu isn’t there yet. Gerard receives a text from Jeongmu saying, “Hey, you messed with the wrong guy. This is just a taste of what’s coming. FYI, he didn’t even try to fight back lmao.” Jinu arrives at Sinma entertainment, beaten up and limping.
